The FAO Saudi IPM project is looking
for an international consultant on IPPM - general and stone fruits in particular

Project intends to recruit the consultant in November 2007. Duty Station will be Riyadh. The Duration of the contract will be 4 months.
Description of Duties
- Assess training and facilitation skills of plant
protection department staff
- Assist in the design of a on-the-job training
programme for department staff
- Conduct a training course to reinforce adult
education principles and practice facilitation skills with department
trainers
- Assist in the development of an experiential learning
curriculum for regional plant protection and extension staff in IPPM, and coach
department trainers in its implementation
- Assess the capacities of regional Agricultural
Directorates to provide farmer education services to smallholders through review
of documents, field visits and discussions with relevant
authorities
- Assist in the design of a training programme for
regional officers to initiate and implement farmer field schools and assist in
starting the initial training period
- Observe and assess the implementation of farmer field
schools for smallholders and make recommendations to improve the quality
- Prepare a consultancy report at the end of each
assignment and provide inputs for the Project Progress Report.
Key Qualifications
- University degree related to agriculture, plant protection or adult
education
- Practical experience (more than 5
years) in the implementation of rural adult education programmes and farmer
field schools
- Fluent in English
