Various institutions have developed a series of farmer-education videos dealing with rice seed management. Considering the relevance of the topic for a wide range of contexts and crops, farmers' response has been very positive across cultural barriers.
Over a period of four years four on-farm rice seed management videos were developed and were showed to 400,000 farmers via facilitated group sessions in four Asian and four African countries, and to an estimated 40 million rural people through television. The videos were produced by the Rural Development
Academy (RDA, Bogra, Bangladesh) and the women's NGO TMSS in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute
(IRRI, Philippines) and CAB International (CABI, UK).
Access the videos on YouTube:

Although the videos are posted on YouTube, CD versions can be requested upon
by those who feel they would add value to their FFS programmes. To obtain copies of the
videos in either mpeg or VCD format please contact:

The use of video is a fairly new innovation for the Farmer Field Schools Approach. To stimulate discussion around this topic FFSnet has opened a discussion board on the FFSnet Forum - Use of Videos in FFS . You need to be a member of the FFSnet web site and a member of this discussion board to be able to see it. If you wish to join this discussion board, please contact
