Climate Field Schools in Indonesia PDF Print E-mail
Written by Kees Stigter

The Directorate of Crops Protection in Jakarta, Indonesia and agrometeorologists from Bogor Agricultural University have expanded the FFS approach to address the issues of climate change in agriculture in Climate Field Schools (CFS). Their role is that the trainers involved are one class of intermediaries, between the forecasting products of BMG (Indonesian Meteorological and Geophysical Agency) and the farmers, in a service act of joint determination of rice planting time. A participative approach had etermined that this was the single most serious problem of the farmers oncerned due to climate change, next to droughts and floods. This is reported by Kees Stigter in "The Jakarta Post" on 15 October 2007.
